Cherry-licious fractions!

This week we will be learning all about fractions.

Here are our ingredients for making cherry cupcakes

1. We will use 3/6 of the eggs, how many eggs will we use?
2. How else could we write the fraction for number 1?
3. We will use 1/4 of the chocolate chips, how many will we use?

    1. Ok Marcel. What is 1/4 of the bag of sugar?

    2. 1/4 of the sugar is 50g. I worked this out by splitting 200g in half to find 1/2 and then splitting 1/2 again to find 1/4. This came to 50g because 50g + 50g + 50g + 50g = 200g altogether.

    1. I love how you imagined the array in your head to help you work out the fraction of chocolate chips. This is a very important maths skill to have. Well done.
