To answer question 1, first we gave three people each eight grapes. We had to count 24 grapes first and share them one at a time between 3 people. Thjey all had equal amounts 8 each
Mr Highman thank you for this morning lesson i really enjoyed it. It was really fun especially the bit where we expland our self about what method we used and why it is better than the other method. Mr Highman that was the best lesson i have ever had in year 3 thank you very much.
I agree Tomisin. It was interesting to see your working out as well as the explanations you did of your working out. Explaining maths can sometimes be very tricky!

I'm impressed that you want to challenge yourself Tomisin
DeleteI would draw the chariots one at a time, like arrays. Then fill them with four senators each. I would need two chariots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great solution using arrays.
DeleteWe solved the problem by using the numicon to help us see the groups of numbers. We had a big paper to write the sums on.
ReplyDeleteDid you use any other methods to solve the problems?

ReplyDeleteTo solve question 1, I used the method of inverse to find that each group should get 8 grapes because 3x8=24.
I used sharing to help solve the problems.
ReplyDeleteTo awnser question one I used sharing the grapes to 3 people 1 by 1 so they each get 12 and inverse and that's how I solved the problems by strategy
