Auxilium Decimus Anno III

In preparation for our Roman banquet on Friday, Year 3 helped Decimus answer a number of problems.

What strategies did you use today to solve the problems, why did you choose them and which do you think were the best?

  2. I would draw the chariots one at a time, like arrays. Then fill them with four senators each. I would need two chariots.

  3. We solved the problem by using the numicon to help us see the groups of numbers. We had a big paper to write the sums on.

To answer question 1, first we gave three people each eight grapes. We had to count 24 grapes first and share them one at a time between 3 people. Thjey all had equal amounts 8 each

To solve question 1, I used the method of inverse to find that each group should get 8 grapes because 3x8=24.

  6. I used sharing to help solve the problems.

  7. To awnser question one I used sharing the grapes to 3 people 1 by 1 so they each get 12 and inverse and that's how I solved the problems by strategy

    1. I agree Tomisin. It was interesting to see your working out as well as the explanations you did of your working out. Explaining maths can sometimes be very tricky!
